Wakama and Kporghor
Community Enjoined To
Live In Harmony
The people of Wakama
Community in Ogu/Bolo
Local Government Area
and Kira, Kporghor
Communities in Tai Local
Government Area of
Rivers State have been
enjoined to shield their
swords and live together
in peace as neighbours.
The chairman of the
Wakama-Kporghor Peace
and Reconciliation
Committee, Barr Mela
Ogboribu-Oforibika who
made the call during the
committee's visit to the
areas said peace and
unity in their
communities would
attract developments,
and appealed to the
people to forget and
forgive in the interest
of the State.
Barr. Oforibika said the
Governor, Chief Barr
Nyesom Wike who
instructed the
Commissioner of Police,
Chris Ezike to set up
the committee has a lot
of developmental plans
for the entire people of
the State, and this
could only be achieved
in a peaceful
atmosphere, assuring
that the committee would
live-up to its
expectation.
He however sympathized
with those who lost
their loved ones and
property during the
crises, urging them to
send memoranda to the
committee on the level
of damages and
casualties for proper
assessment and report to
the Governor.
According to him
adequate security would
be provided to forestall
future occurrences, and
called on all displaced
persons to come back
home and settle.
Also speaking during the
visit, the caretaker
committee chairmen of
Ogu/Bolo Local
Government, Mr. Isaac
Ibiberebupakabo and his
Tai Council Area
counterpart, Mr.
Epbebari Ntou-ue assured
the people of Government
assistance if only they
could maintain peace and
once more live like
brothers and sisters.
They condemned the
attacks and wanton
destruction of lives and
property, saying that it
is unnecessary, barbaric
and uncalled for, and
enjoined all to embrace
peace so as to attract
development to their
communities.
In their separate
speeches, Sir Michael
Nziadam of Kira
Community, Elder Chief
Israel Nkara of Kporghor
and Elder Godspower
Ibitein Titus of Wakama
Community thanked the
Governor, Nyesom Wike
for setting up the
committee which they
said is the first of its
kind on the lingering
crisis between Wakama
and Kporghor Community,
and prayed God to give
the committee the
courage and wisdom to
carry out their
assignment diligently
and with purpose of
sincerity without fear
or favour for lasting
peace to reign among the
communities. They also
appealed for relief
materials for the
displaced people to
enable them settle.
Meanwhile, the caretaker
committee chairman of
Ogu/Bolo Local
Government Area, Mr.
Isaac Ibiberebupakabo
has commended Governor
Nyesom Wike for
setting-up the Peace and
Reconciliation Committee
to look into the
lingering conflict
between the people of
Wakama in Ogu/Bolo Local
Government Area and
Kporghor in Tai,
describing the move as a
right step in the right
direction.Mr. Isaac Ibiberebupakabo, who made this commendation during an interview with journalists described the Governor as the 'David of our time.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was established in 2000 with the mission of facilitating the rapid, even and sustainable development of the Niger Delta into a region that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful.
In Line with its mandate to build human capacity resource and enhance skills development in the nine (9) States of the Niger Delta Region, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has concluded arrangement to train interested and qualified youths of the Niger Delta Origin on Oil Spill Response Management that will lead to award of globally recognized certification and create the needed skilled manpower in fundamentals of Oil Spill Management locally and internationally.

Job Qualifications
– Interested candidates are required to possess a minimum of Senior School Certificate (SSC) to qualify for the training programme.
Additional Criteria
Apart from educational requirement as stated above, the interested applicants must meet the following criteria/requirements: ◦Must be an indigene of Niger Delta Region.
– Must be physically fit and be prepared to undergo full medical and. psychometric tests.
– Should be between ages of 20-40 years.
Deadline: 13th August, 2015.

Interested and qualified candidates should submit their handwritten application to the Commission’s Office in his or her state of origin, Each application should be accompanied by the following: ◦Photocopies of educational certificates.

Giving our LGA a new look and restoring social amenities are necessary............... HON. ISAAC.
The CTC Chairman of Ogu-Bolo LGA is currently grading the road pathways of Ogu-Eteo road,
He promises to restore amenities like (Power supply, Water, roads, etc) this was made known during his tour to various Communities over the weekend.
The Chairman also promise to commence other developmental projects soon that even the ordinary man would benefit.
