PURPORTED SUSPENSION OF SEN. GEORGE THOMPSON SEKIBO FROM THE PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP: A FALLACY BY MISCHIEF MAKERS

PURPORTED SUSPENSION OF SEN. GEORGE THOMPSON SEKIBO FROM THE PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP: A FALLACY BY MISCHIEF MAKERS

Our attention has been drawn to a paid fallacious announcement aired on Rhythm 93.7 FM radio, purportedly suspending Distinguished Senator George Thompson Sekibo CON DSSRS from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The authors and sponsors of the said announcement were economical with the truth as they were merely acting a script intended to malign the Senator. In their vain glorious vituperations, they alleged without any iota of proof or justification، that Senator Sekibo was involved in antiparty activities and also failed to pay his monthly fees as a member of the PDP.

It is necessary to educate the authors and perpetrators of the illegal and fundamentally flawed process that Senator Sekibo was never involved in any form of antiparty behaviour at anytime since he joined the party in 1998 till date as his loyalty to the party has been clear and transparent at all times including during the elections on February 25th and March 18th, 2023.

It is also not true that Senator Sekibo does not pay his party membership subscription or dues as the facts clearly indicate. It is necessary to remind the authors of confusion that   as an aspirant for the governorship ticket of the party Senator Sekibo's nomination form was validly completed, submitted with evidence of up to date record of payment of membership subscription dues endorsed by his Ward chairman.

It is ridiculous to insinuate that the Senator could be suspended based on pure falsehood and contrived allegations that are not in consonance with the constitution of our party as spelt out in Article 57 (1-7) as amended in 2017.

In particular, as stated clearly in 57(7): "Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee, at any level except the National Executive Committee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governor or a member of the National Assembly." Except submitted through the National Working Committee to the National Executive Committee. As it is, nothing of such pertains to the person or conduct of Senator Sekibo.

Allegations against a party member requires him or her to be informed of such breach and for him to defend himself formally. Any action taken in breach of our party constitution renders such action illegal and a nullity.

It is strange that at a time member of the PDP are closing ranks and striving to rebuild the party after the national and state elections some persons are seeking

platforms for mischief to pull down leaders who have shown uncommon patriotism and labour in the affairs of the State and the party.

Members of the PDP and the general public are therefore advised to discountenance the falsehood in the said announcement as Distinguished Senator George Thompson Sekibo remains a lawful and bonafide member of the People's Democratic Party, in his Ward and up to the National levels.
