RT. HON. EVANS B. BIPI APPLAUD HON. BOMA IYAYE.

The caretaker committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Evans B. Bipi applauded Chief Hon. Boma Iyaye who is the Executive Director of Finance and Administration (EDFA) of NDDC for attracting befitting projects to Ogu Kingdom through the NDDC.

Hon. Bipi made this statement in a Stakeholders Town-hall meeting at Ogu Multi-Purpose Hall with Chiefs, Community Elders, Community Development Committee (CDC), Youth Leaders, Women and non-indigenes.

The CTC Chairman expressed that he is not against the NDDC Town Hall project which has caused so much concern, and that is supposed to be for the betterment of the people contrary to insinuations in some quarters by the loyalists of the FCT Minister.





-I am not against the project, my concern is the location which is already designated for recreational purposes.

-As the CTC Chairman, I'll do anything in my power to ensure we don't lose this beautiful project from my brother Chief, Hon Boma Iyaye.

-From the pictures, you can tell it's a massive project that will cause a positive change. He added.

Hon. Evans Bipi acknowledged that as political leaders, irrespective of political differences, it is the duty of all to attract meaningful development to communities and the LGA to Better the lives of the people.

A cross-section of the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs and other Stakeholders commended the CTC Chairman Rt. Hon. Evans Bipi,

Adding that the Town Hall meeting became necessary as the peacefulness of the community comes first. They however call for a close-door meeting between both parties to agree on a possible resolution to station the Royal Town Hall project by the NDDC.

The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area has sworn-in over 150 appointees into office as a means of economic empowerment and wealth creation.

 

Addressing the appointees after taking their oath office at the Ogu Magistrate Court, Evans Bipi said the move is in line with the directive of Governor Fubara and his policy on stomach infrastructure to empower the people with appointments as part of measures to mitigate the current economic hardship at the grassroots.

 

He said the appointment slots were evenly spread across the twelve Wards of Ogu/Bolo and even to non-indigenes to ensure balance representation, inclusivity and a sense of belonging in governance.

 

Evans Bipi asserted that the appointment will enhance the financial capacity of the appointees with a far-reaching ripple effect on their families and communities.

 

“The appointment of over 150 aides is part of my empowerment programme to ensure financial inclusion and enhance the financial capacity of breadwinners in Ogu/Bolo to enable them meet the rising needs of their households amidst the current economic situation in the country”.

 

 

The Caretaker Chairman also urged the people of Ogu/Bolo to remain peaceful in the face of provocation by loyalists of the FCT Minister in the area.

He said though no one has a monopoly of violence but members of the Simplified Movement in Ogu/Bolo decided to toe the path of peace due to the peaceful nature of Governor Fubara.

 

“God is on our side, Our Governor is a peacemaker, let’s toe the path of peace, let us not be swayed or intimidated by their lies, they live by lies. Our Governor is a man of few words, he does not talk much but he does much, so don’t join issue with them”

 

Evans Bipi also berated the opposition for jubilating in ignorance over the Supreme Court verdict on financial autonomy for Local Government system not knowing the implication of the judgment.

 

“The Supreme Court gave a judgment that federal allocation should be paid directly to the 774 Local Government Areas of the country and some people are jubilating ignorantly not knowing the implication of the judgment, truly ignorance is a big disease”.

 

“What it means is that as against the usual practice the allocation should be paid directly to me your Council Chairman for the delivery of governance to you and not to someone else who is not the Council Chairman.”

 

“It is laughable that some people decided to deliberately misinterpret the judgment to soothe themselves, hoodwink the public and give their gullible followers false hope”.  

 

The Ogu/Bolo Caretaker Chairman Evans Bipi also charged the appointees to key into his development agenda, bring their experiences to bear and contribute positively to the development of the LGA.  

 

“I charge all appointees to key into my vision and policy direction on economic empowerment a.k.a stomach infrastructure and human capital development which aims at reducing the scourge of hunger and hardship in our land”.

 

“As you assume your new roles today, I urge you to be diligent, upright and live above-board in all your dealings in office”.

“You must bring your experiences to bear and make positive contribution for the good governance of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area”

 


Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Confidential Secretary Christy Tamunobereton-ari expressed appreciation to the Ogu/Bolo Caretaker Chairman Evans Bipi for given them the opportunity to serve and at the same empowering them financially with the appointments.

 CTC CHAIRMAN OF OGU/BOLO PROMISES TO ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERINGS OF RIVERINE DWELLERS IN THE LGA

…Breaks the Jinx as first Council Chairman of Ogu/Bolo to Visit Owuogono Riverine Community

The Chairman Caretaker committee of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Evans Bipi has promised to provide basic amenities and address other critical needs of the people of satellite Communities and Fishing Settlements in Ogu/Bolo to alleviate their sufferings.

The Ogu/Bolo Council Boss made the pledge during a familiarization visit to Owuogono, Ele and Ikpo-Ama riverine communities of Ogu/Bolo to assess the needs of the people with a view to improving on their wellbeing.

He said his administration will commence the provision of monthly grants by next week to sets of thirty persons from each of the twelve Wards of the Local Government Area to incentivize small-scale businesses, boost household economy and reduce hunger in the area. 

The Council Chairman promised to construct a modern Health Centre in Owuogono satellite Community to address the healthcare needs of the people, reduce morbidity and mortality rate occasioned by the lack of a Health Centre in the area.

He also promised to construct Potable Water Facility in the Community to address the problem of lack of safe drinking water with its adverse effect on the health of the people.

Evans Bipi also promised to construct a befitting Townhall in Owuogono to enhance interaction, promote togetherness and social cohesion amongst the people.

In Ele riverine Community, the Ogu/Bolo Council Boss Evans Bipi promised to ensure that a Health Center project in the Community is completed and equipped to attend to the healthcare needs of the people while also ensuring the completion of a Townhall and Public Toilet projects in the area.

He also promised to overhaul the power generating set of the Community and ensure its regular maintenance for constant power supply while also promising to improve the quality of drinking water in the Community to prevent water borne diseases.

In Ikpo-Ama riverine Community, the Ogu/Bolo Caretaker Chairman Evans Bipi promised to facilitate the connection of the Community to the National Grid for electricity supply and address other critical needs of the area within the available resources of the Council.

He also assured that the Community will benefit from the ambitious economic empowerment and human capital development programme of his administration.

The Ogu/Bolo Council Boss also urged the people of Owuogono, Ele and Ikpo-Ama riverine communities to remain supportive of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Simplified Movement for sustained delivery of good governance to the area.

The visit by the CTC Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Evans Bipi was the first time any Council Chairman of the Local Government whether elected or Caretaker is visiting Owuogono riverine community/fishing settlement to know the plight of the people and attend to their needs. 

The visit which was greeted with wild jubilation by the riverine dwellers signifies a rare of hope for the people who felt abandoned and forgotten by successive Local Government administrations of Ogu/Bolo.
