Supreme Court verdict averted further blood bath in Rivers – Ateke
THE ex-agitator in the Niger Delta struggle, High Chief Ateke Tom has said the verdict given by the Supreme Court, Wednesday, which affirmed the victory of Chief Nyesom Wike in the April 11th Governorship election in Rivers State has averted a perceived blood bath in the state. Ateke who spoke to pressmen in the state, yesterday, at his Okrika home town described the judgment as an act of God.
Ateke stated that the judgment ought to spur the people of the state to host a thanksgiving ceremony, adding that if the judgment was not discretional that the state would have faced more crises in the rerun of the governorship election. Ateke who is a peace ambassador said the verdict has shut the doors against impending bloodshed in the state. The leader of Niger Delta Vigilante, NDV, called for reconciliation between Dr. Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election and Governor Nyesom Wike in the state for the sake of development of the state.
He also urged youths to stop attacks on oil facilities in the region, adding that sch act was a setback to the peace and development of the nation Ateke said, “Wike and Dakuku should reconcile. The winning didn’t come as a surprise if you look at me you will know that I have reduced weight because I was thinking about the election.” A lot of killing would have taken place in the rerun, but the Supreme Court ruling has averted it. “Already when they have not passed the judgment they have started attacking people, rapping peoples wives, killing youths.
Anybody that is Wike’s supporter they will come after the person. They killed a lot of people with their raid, look at me a peacemaker in Niger Delta they wanted to come and raid my house which is bad. “The ruling, to be frank, has saved many people lives because we don’t know what would have happened. Ateke also pleaded, “Those who are planning to go back to the creek should stop because it is an economic sabotage, I am not in support that. Cultism is an offshore of the bad attitude of the politicians in different locality and they are the one that gave the youths arms, the only advice I have for them is for them to shun violence.

COUNCIL BOSS TASKS BOAT OPERATORS ON REVENUE.

Speed boat operators within the waterways of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area in Rivers State, have been enjoined to cooperate with the council in its internal revenue drive.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the council, Mr. Isaac Ibiberebupakabo, made the call when the executives and members of Ikpokiri Ama Community Speed Boat Owners of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Ogu Wednesday.
Ibiberebupakabo said the council was poised to set a revenue base for the local government to survive, especially with the dwindling fortunes of the economy in the country, pointing out that the revenue collected would augment the federal allocation in executing projects as well as day-to-day running of the local government area.
He said that it was disheartening to note that there are no proper revenue sources except the federation account, stressing that the setting up of a taskforce on revenue mobilization would boost the fortunes of the local government to carry out its statutory functions to the people.
According to him, with the little revenue these operators pay, the council would be committed to carry out some developmental projects that would have direct bearing on the people.
The Ogu/Bolo Local Government boss also reiterated the need for all companies and individuals doing business within its area to join hand and move the local government to greater heights while assuring them continued safety and conducive business environment.
Ibiberebupakabo appealed that nobody should see the revenue taskforce as a ploy by the council to further increase their predicaments but a step to generate fund for the local government to grow.
He thanked them for the visit and announced a reduction of the council’s sticker from N5,000 to N2,500 annually, on daily tickets from N100 to N50, while appealing to them to comply and also maintain peace in their settlements .
In their separate speeches, Amiso Igbikimabiebo and Philemon Daju Atamuno thanked the chairman for his maturity and promised to support and cooperate with him.

Dr. Okonjo warns Nigerians.

During Dr Goodluck Jonathan's administration, oil price was around $100 per barrel, former finance minister Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala adviced the federal and state governments to save money for the rainy day. She warned that there will be economic crunch like it's happening now, she saw this coming.
APC and her governors dragged her and Jonathan's government to court, the court judgement went in APC's favour because the constitution does not give room for such savings. Government shared the money with state governments after APC and her lying machinery and press told the gullible ones that Jonathan wanted to save money for election campaign. Governors squandered the funds, only a few like Senator Godswill Akpabio, Peter Obi et al saved.
Today Nigeria's economy is bad and tumbling down, nobody recalls that Okonjo-Iweala warned us ahead of time. The gullible ones of the broom persuasion are busy calling the best finance minister Nigeria ever had unpleasant names while the world is recognizing her sterling leadership qualities after she shot Nigeria's economy to the top of the African continent for the first time.
Our economy is going down, down in eight months as everything has turned out so bad. Buhari told the world that he will stabilize oil price globally, he should keep to his promise and stabilize it as a barrel of oil crashed to $27. With this downward change, is this how $1 is going to equal N1? As it is N300 to a US Dollar today.

Women Beware: Killer Bra in town.

Women Beware: Killer Bra that Eats up the Skin in Town.

Women Beware: Killer Bra that Eats up the Skin in Town
Many women buy "second hand"bras for various reasons. While some argue that they are of better quality and therefore last longer, others do so for purely economic reasons because these bras come at relatively cheap prices but these individuals who thrive on second hand or Okrika, Katangura, Karimu bras better beware because they can kill you.
Investigations reveal that there is a killer bug which has taken the lives of many women in Nigeria.
Obviously, the bras, mostly the ones with foams have some organisms which spew out liquid that eats up the skin.
A victim said, when the bag of liquid opens and touches the breast, it will itch and and become swollen till you get to hospital and will finally die at the end.
"I mean the patient will die at the end, number of persons have died around Nonwa in TaI and cause is uncovered in Ogu/Bolo local government areas of Rivers State."

3 Ways to Be a Successful Leader

3 Ways to Be a Successful Leader

Have you had the good fortune to cross paths with at least one leader in your career that made a lasting difference in your life, how you see yourself, or your outlook? I’ll never forget the excellent leader I witnessed early in my career.  He was open to seeing things the way they were, listened in an entirely present way to those around him, passionately and persuasively advocated for what was in the best interest of the company. The energy he created was powerful for others and influenced outstanding results for the enterprise.
How can you develop this type of impact? These three fundamental things will make the difference for you:
1. Be fully present to what you are doing. Rather than being a creature of habit, making mistakes and having to apologize, develop a clear intention for your choices. Leading with intention requires conscious attention to what you intend to achieve and what is going on around you.  Intentional behavior helps you to make strategic decisions about how to communicate and approach challenges on your way to results. If you have a biased or fixed idea about a person or a situation, you may miss opportunities to see things clearly - as they are. To know whether you are fully present and intentional, ask yourself.

Am I clear about my intentions?
Am I distracted by my computer, phone, or what I have to do next so that I am not fully present?
Do I have preconceived notions or mindsets about a person or situation?

2. Practice self-reflection to become more aware. Successful leaders benefit by self-awareness. They see their “self” as the primary source for achieving results. Self-awareness enables you to use your emotions to think more clearly and helps you to be more intentional. It helps you to learn from successes and mistakes. You practice self-reflection by asking yourself questions about who you are to others, what you are doing to learn and grow, and the impact your leadership style has on others. Ask yourself.

Why do I do the work I do?
How open am I to my learning?
How would others describe me as a leader?

3. Make a connection between your organization’s mission and your role. Context is critical. You may have heard the expression, “culture eats strategy for lunch.”  Your role as a leader is to ensure the environment is supportive of getting results aligned with the organization’s mission and vision. Invitation forms culture, not a mandate. Culture forms by commitment, rather than coercion. When others' behavior is out of alignment with the organization's goals, it’s up to you to set the tone for what is right through your communication and actions. You are a model and a coach - giving explicit directions, listening and observing, giving feedback and asking questions skillfully and strategically. These actions have a beneficial effect on the environment and the culture under your leadership. Ask yourself these questions.

What kind of environment do I create in my interaction with others?
What are the behaviors required for the future success of the business?
What can I do to model these behaviors?
Use these questions as a regular practice, and your leadership will make a considerable difference to others around you and your career.

4 Things Successful People Do NOT Do.

What can seriously hinder career advancement? How can knowing this help build your awareness of how your beliefs and behaviors that can derail success? If you see these in yourself or others, it provides the opportunity to consider other options and make better choices. Here are four things that can stall your career.
1. The focus is primarily on yourself and your success.
In high-risk situations such as investing in your performance or career goals where there is competition at play, it can seem necessary to set high expectations for yourself and become focused on meeting your needs. This is appropriate for self-development, and can feel rewarding when things go your way. However, this tendency can lead to political missteps and ignoring the concerns and needs of others. Too much focus on this kind of self-involvement has high costs.
  • When you are self-involved, you can quickly lose perspective on the larger context that matters to others as well as you.
  • Other people pick up on this self-concern and self-involvement, and it can interfere with trust and a relationship based on mutual consideration.
  • Self-involvement can impede listening, lead to arrogance, a lack of collaboration, and less efficient performance since you may not be tapping into others’ perspectives and helpful ideas.
2. Lose composure under pressure or stress.
Losing your cool can happen when you feel defensive or overwhelmed in the face of challenges. It’s possible to lose composure when you feel trapped in a bad set of circumstances, and you lack the self-confidence to address it successfully. A loss of composure can also occur if you are perfectionistic with expectations beyond what may be reasonable. We all experience breakdowns occasionally. We work through these moments and learn from them. But without a way to deal effectively with painful emotions, there may be costs.
  • When under stress, our brains narrow focus, and we can become single-minded in our perspective, or judgmental of self and colleagues,
  • Defensiveness can show up in a hostile or sarcastic manner with others,
  • Under pressure, it is common to make poor decisions.
3. Over-dependence on an advocate.
Success rests with having the courage, endurance, and will to become self-confident and self-reliant. While mentors and coaches can play a critical role in your learning and career growth, over-reliance on a boss, champion, and mentor can build a dependency that harms your reputation. Your reputation can suffer when you turn to the manager or project leader for advice without coming to them with a solution of your own. Another reason for dependence is being overly loyal or having too narrow an experience-base. Let’s look at the costs of being too dependent.
  • Others may question your ability to achieve results independently.
  • Others might wonder whether you can stand up to a tough assignment or situation without help.
  • You may be so tied to one advocate, that if he or she lost interest or left the organization, your reputation may suffer.
4. Over-dependence on a single skill.
When you overuse a skill, it becomes a weakness. We are comfort-zone creatures. Most of us don’t like taking chances and don't venture onto unfamiliar ground comfortably. Some think that learning one thing and doing that well will help them get promoted. An example of an overused skill is selling. As things change, using the skill of selling as an influencing strategy can turn others off. Also, a single skill can become a problem when different skills would help reach the goals more efficiently. Here are some risks of this over-dependence.
  • Reliance on a single strength for performance and career progression can be a built-in career limitation.
  • Not having a broad and diverse set of skills make it difficult to adapt to changes, and handle challenges successfully rather than only having the core talent or technology to leverage.
  • You may get a reputation for having a narrow perspective, being inexperienced, or not interested in broadening or self-development.
If you see yourself in any of these potential derailers, realize what you need to build new muscles and skills that will get you on track to success. Use your courage to face your beliefs and strategies and change them. Work on another skill to cover for, substitute for or neutralize the adverse effects of the lack of skill. Find and use your strengths. Leverage them, and get feedback and assistance from others to mitigate risks and ensure career success.

REASONING OF DESTINTY.

At times my job can be very difficult on the account of the kind of questions I'm asked, advice people seek, social problems people want me to intervene in and the inconsistency of mankind in thoughts, decisions and the will to do.

When you're purposed to serve in the field of humanitarian services and you're passionate about the well-being, success and prosperity of mankind in general, it can be frustrating to see how easy it is for many people to do so well and succeed in life but they're still held back by their thinking, mind-set and judgements.

The reason for the crisis, pain and struggle for many people in life is exclusively a thinking and mind-set problem.
Educated, exposed, intelligent, hardworking and kind people; suffering so much and achieving so little in this life simply because they have a mind-set challenge.

Lately, too many people have asked questions and drawn conclusions in one-on-one conversations and through mails regarding the efficacy of ones advocacy that success and a good life is possible for all men. They refuse to accept the chance of a better life because of their strong belief in the concept of destiny and predestination.

ARE YOU COMMITTED IN YOUR TASK?.

For you to succeed in life any endeavour either business or career, you must of a necessity disburse the required time and energy, devotion and dedication for success.
To illustrate the time, energy, devotion and dedication required in learning to play the piano well is not the same you'll require in learning a latest version of a brand new cell phone.
Which means the level of our commitment should be determined by the nature of the task and not based on our ease or convenience. The time, energy, dedication and devotion to a job or task should be determined by the job and task and not our personal convenience.

HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?.

World class strategies, beautiful plans, lucrative business ideas and personal dreams fail and fall short when commitment is absent.
Millions every day, everywhere think up solutions to personal, corporate and public challenges. Business Strategists see opportunities for growth and profit in various markets. Huge resources are put behind the agenda, everything looking pretty good on paper and even the project starts off on a good note, but somewhere in the process of execution, failure and frustration sets in, to the end that a beautiful plan, a beautiful strategy fails to deliver simply because sustained commitment was absent in execution.

SANITIZE YOUR HEART.

As human beings, we are essentially spirits. You are a spirit, you live in a body; your body is your house, your abode, your container, your packaging, your vessel. You live inside your body. And the purpose of your body is for physical and carnal interaction. It's for physical contact with anything that has form and occupies space.
As a human being there is a third part that makes you a complete person; that is your soul. Your soul is that part of you essentially designed and tailor made for you to be able to fulfil your purpose on earth.

Do you have a dream?.

We are in very unpredictable times, who, currently holds the controls and reigns of your life? Who today has the power to turn on or off the switch of your happiness and survival? Are you really working hard to stay alive, pay your bills and meet your basic needs? For how long do you want to keep going this way? Do you have in your mind a terminal date for your struggles, tedious work and servitude? When is your independence date? The time when you will rest from all your struggle and labour and begin to enjoy your life?.
