2025 Synod Communiqué of the Diocese of Okrika

2025 Synod Communiqué – Diocese of Okrika (Anglican Communion) 
Preamble: The 1st Session of the 8th Synod of the Diocese of Okrika was held from May 1–4, 2025, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Kalio-Ama. It was presided over by Bishop Enoch Atuboyedia and attended by several dignitaries, including Archbishop Blessing Enyindah and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Theme: Walking Circumspectly (Ephesians 5:15) Synod emphasized the need for Christians to live cautiously and purposefully, upholding their identity in Christ. Drawing from biblical teachings and the symbolism of the Prodigal Son, the Synod warned against spiritual decline, secular compromise, and graceless religion. It encouraged the Church to invest in capacity building and sound financial management.
Around the Diocese: Condolences were extended to Kirike Kingdom on the Queen's passing.
Appreciation was given to King T.E.O. Ogube and the Kalio-Ama community for their support.
Commendation for the state’s renovation of Okrika Grammar School and diocesan empowerment initiatives, including scholarships and financial grants.

The Synod distanced the Church from political and communal conflicts, stressing its spiritual mission.

Niger Delta Province: Acknowledged Archbishop Enyindah's evangelical efforts and leadership.
Church of Nigeria: Praised the Health Summit and the Joshua Generation Youth Conference. Encouraged members to prioritize health and remain steadfast in faith despite national challenges.

Rivers State: Expressed concern over political tensions and the declaration of emergency rule. Urged peaceful resolution and restoration of democratic governance.
State of the Nation: Decried economic hardship, insecurity, and called for urgent government reforms. Urged leaders to be guided by divine wisdom and citizens to remain hopeful and committed to ethical living.

The World Today: Advised parents to monitor their children’s internet usage to guard against cyber dangers while adapting to modern technology.
Conclusion: The Synod gave thanks to God, reaffirmed commitment to walking circumspectly, and prayed for grace, wisdom, and national renewal.
