AUDU-USMAN URGES YOUTHS TO EMBRACE RESILIENCE, DIGITAL SKILLS AT JOSHUA GENERATION CONFERENCE

Mr. Isaac Audu-Usman has charged young people to cultivate the right mindset, discover their sense of purpose, and equip themselves with skills relevant to a fast-changing world, as he addressed participants during a mentorship session at the Joshua Generation International Youth Conference 2026, held at Okrika Grammar School, Okrika.

Speaking to the gathering of youths, Audu-Usman urged them not to let their background, financial circumstances, or present challenges define their future. He described resilience as one of the most critical life skills young people can develop, stressing that the ability to persist through adversity often separates those who succeed from those who give up.

A Call to Skills-Driven Growth

Audu-Usman encouraged participants to prioritize practical and digital skills, noting that today's world of work is increasingly shaped by problem-solving ability, technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, leadership, and collaboration. He advised the youths to identify a niche, pursue excellence within it, and continually expand their knowledge base rather than remaining stagnant.

He also challenged them to stop waiting for formal employment before putting their skills to use. According to him, young people can create their own opportunities through volunteering, taking on projects, helping businesses solve real problems, and building portfolios that showcase their abilities to the world.

Character Over Cash

The mentor cautioned against making money the sole driver of career decisions. Instead, he stressed that experience, expertise, proficiency, and character are equally valuable investments - ones that pay long-term dividends even when immediate financial rewards are not obvious.

Purpose, Feedback, and Consistency

Audu-Usman charged participants to have clarity about their vision and purpose, remain teachable, and stay open to feedback. He also urged them to embrace failure as a learning opportunity rather than a setback, and to remain consistent in their efforts even under pressure.

 

The mentorship session formed part of the broader objectives of the Joshua Generation Youth Conference, which aims to prepare young people for the digital economy and position them to become problem-solvers, innovators, and responsible leaders in their communities and beyond.
