TUC Hails INTELS.

The Public Relations Officer of the company, Mr Sambol Isidore, said that the company is running a graduate and primary schools scholarship, while plans are on for a post graduate scholarship for indigenes of its host communities abroad.

According to him, hundreds of students are benefiting yearly from secondary school scholarship, while 80 students are in the university scholarship.

He said that Intels has also carried out major development projects around its operational areas, pointing out that some of these projects include, the International Market Project in Ogu, the Stadium Complex in Ogu and the grading of roads in Onne communities.

He said that Intels was poised to do more for its host communities an interactive session, with council members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the company’s office in Onne/Ikpokiri.

Gov. Wike declares public holiday.

The Executive Governor of Rivers State has declared every January 27 as Public Holiday in Rivers State.

He made the declaration while thanking Civil Servants for their support. Friday, February 5, 2016 has also been declared Work Free Day FOR CIVIL SERVANTS by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, for them to rest.

INEC moves Rivers State National and State Assembly rerun elections 19 March 2016.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has moved the conduct of Rivers State National and State Assembly rerun elections from February 6^th to Saturday March nineteenth 2016.

The new date was announced in a statement signed by the INEC Public Relations Officer in Rivers State TONIA NWOYE.

The statement said the decision was taken after a meeting with stakeholders at INEC headquarters in Abuja.

The people of Ogu/Bolo local government have declared that the area remains a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Chiefs, Community leaders, women and youth leaders of Ogu, Bolo and Wakama Communities of the area reaffirmed this during the PDP campaign rally for the party Senatorial and House of Representative Candidates Senator George Sekibo and Bright Gogo.

Ogu/Bolo CTC Boss Harps On IGR.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Isaac Ibiberebupakabo has reiterated the need for all companies and individuals doing business within its territory to join hands and move the local government to greater heights through internally generated revenue.

Isaac Ibiberebupakabo made the assertion when executive and members of Ikpokiri-Ama community Speed Boat Owners of Nigeria paid him a courtesy call in his office at Ogu.

The Ogu/Bolo local government boss said the collection of revenue from companies operating within the area was not to witch-hunt any company or individual, but to set up a legacy generated revenue to boost the council’s revenue base, in view of the dwindling economy of the nation.

He said it was regrettable that the local government had no proper revenue source to argument the federal allocation, but assured to set in motion a plan for other chairmen to follow and make the council vibrant.

“Pay revenue to attract government projects as such revenues paid could be used as revolving loan to assist most of you” he said and appealed to them not to see the move as a ploy to increase their suffering, but regard it as a revenue platform for the council against tomorrow.

lbiberebupakabo enjoined them to comply with the taskforce to enable the local government grow, and announced reductions of N5,000 sticker to N2,500 annually and daily tickets from N100 to N50, while calling on any aggrieved persons to lay their complaints to the council. In their separate speeches, Amiso Igbikimabiebo and Philemon Daju Atammo thanked the chairman and promised to comply with his directive.
