2016/2017 POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD SCHEME

Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) Limited, on behalf of the NNPC/NAE/Oando PSC, is committed to the training and development of manpower as part of its Social Investment programme. Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) Limited, has supported the education of hundreds of Nigerian students through its Post Graduate scholarship scheme. Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) Limited, along with its PSC partners, initiated this scholarship programme to help build capacities of young and brilliant Nigerians and further boost the pool of qualified manpower for deep offshore activities in the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry.
In pursuance of this, NAE Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and interested Nigerian graduates for the 2016/2017 Post Graduate Scholarship Award Scheme. The award is in two categories: –
1. Overseas – For study in a reputable overseas university
2. Local – For study in a recognized Nigerian university

To qualify for 2016/2017 NAE Post Graduate Scholarship Award scheme, applicants MUST:
1. Possess a minimum of Second Class Upper division in any of the relevant disciplines from a recognised Nigerian university.
2. Have secured admission into a Nigerian or Overseas university for a one year Master’s Degree programme in any of the disciplines listed below.
3. Not be above 28 years of age by December 31st, 2016.
4. Have completed the one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

Ogu Kingdom Monarch Hails Gov. Wike On Road Projects.

The network of roads embarked upon by the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike in his one year in office has been described as monumental.

The Amanyanabo-Elect of Ogu, in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, King Nicholas Ibiebele Nimenibo Loko IX, made the assertion in an interview with The Tide correspondent in Port Harcourt Monday.

King Nimenibo Loko IX said despite the dwindling federal government allocation to the State, Governor Wike prudently ensures that the people of Rivers State benefit from the dividends of good governance and democracy, stressing that he deserved commendation.

According to him, “I am very happy with him and I will want him to keep it up as I appeal to his detractors to allow him to further take the state to a new level” adding that parties will come and go and the elections are over and so there is need for all to join hands with him to move the state forward.

He sued for peace in the state to allow Governor Wike to carry out more developmental projects, describing peace as the panacea for development.

The Ogu monarch also enjoined the contractors handling the Eleme-Woji road to expedite action and ensure its completion before the rainy season sets in, pointing out that it is a major road of commercial activities.

The royal father also used the forum to thank Governor Wike for appointing some illustrious sons of the area into his cabinet including the Commissioner for Sports, Hon Boma Iyaye, the Director-General, Rivers State Liaison Office, Abuja, Mr Vincent Nimieboka, the Special Advisor on Inter-Party Affairs, and Barr Chris Itamunoala, among others, further pledged the unallowed support of the people to the present government in the state.

UNEP "ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF OGONILAND" REPORT, 2011 at Page 53 states as follows " Bodo West is an area within the extensive network of deltaic creeks. Though uninhabited it includes a number of oil wells. The Wells themselves are submerged, while the associated production station (now decommissioned ) is on land. Bodo West is officially mapped as belonging to Ogu/Bolo LGA but since there are no local settlements, it has been regarded by both SPDC and the Ogoni people as part of the Ogoniland oil facilities. Bodo West was therefore included in the scope of UNEP'S work."
The twisted logic of Shell, Ogonis and UNEP is so weird and funny if it were not so serious as to constitute ethnic cleansing! Consider that Niger Republic can cross the boundaries with Nigeria into the desert area uninhabited in Sokoto State and lay claim to facilities there as being part of Niger Republic !!!. A recipe for war you might say rightly.
Can you cross LGA boundaries and claim facilities that do not belong to your people just because the behemoth called Shell wants to pit brother against brother? The Bolo people in Ogu/Bolo LGA will peacefully resist any attempt to take us off the map of Rivers state by Shell in league with the Ogonis (enacting the Stockholm Syndrome). LET THE ANCIENT LANDMARKS REMAIN AND TRUTH PREVAIL.
We do not want a separate country or state. We want justice and respect. UNEP Cleanup of Ogoniland should stop at Ogoniland LGA. Kindly do a Bolo Cleanup as 90% or the immediate riverine area impacted by the 2008/2009 Bodo oil spill is in Bolo territory. WE WANT BOLO CLEANUP NOW!!!

Intels pledges sustained expansion agenda

Despite various economic challenges especially in the oil and gas sector, Intels Nigeria Limited, concessionaire of Onne/Ikpokiri Free Trade Zone (OFTZ) has pledged to sustain ongoing expansion scheme.
The resolve, according to the company, is expected to impact positively on its operations and that of 150 firms operating within the maritime facility.
Providing update of its operations, Intels explained that critical infrastructure such as world acclaimed Liebherr crane has either been deployed or enhanced inline with global standard.
Besides, the company explained that through its parent company, Orlean Invest, the Onne/Ikpokiri Port Multi Centre (OPMC) and other strategic infrastructure are now in place inline with its multi-purpose status.
Speaking through its head of administration, Chibuisi Onyebueke and Deputy General manager, Government and Community Relations, Orleans Invest, David Alagoa, the company said ongoing expansion agenda are geared towards enhancing status of the Free Trade Zone as a one stop shop for stakeholders.Besides, the company said plans are underway to construct an Airstrip to enhance existing helipad.
Meanwhile, Intels said partnership with host communities is to strengthen in the interest of all stakeholders.Under the arrangement, the oil and gas logistics firm has set aside an annual budget of N3 billion for Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) as part of measures to sustain peaceful coexistence with host communities.
Speaking at an interactive session with Journalists during a facility tour, Alagoa said the company interacts directly with 18 host communities located in five states.Prominent among the communities are Onne and Ogu in Rivers State.
To boost health care in the communities, Intels has deployed mobile clinics to provide primary health care for the host communities.Also, ultral-modern market with 65 locks up shops (34 up and 31 down) has been constructed at Onne waiting for unveiling. Alagoa explained that the company would continue with its community relation activities.
He said the company was making itself part of host communities by investing in the health of the people, sports, road construction, providing job opportunities, capacity building, among others.
He explained that Intels CSR scheme increased over the years due to inherent growth recorded.Onyebueke said: “The airstrip will complement the helipad. We have acquired that land and about clearing and fencing.”On challenges, he added: “We run on generator 24 hours. We are not connected to the national grid despite repeated assurances from various government agencies.
“We consume 100,000 litres of diesel a day. This is the single largest and fastest growing free zone in the world. People say this place is secured but security doesn’t come cheap at all. The United States Coastguards were here and they come yearly to re-certify us. We operate international standards”.
On interaction with host communities, Alagoa said: “We deal with recognised structures. We deal with community chiefs and youths who have government backing. Decisions are mutually taken between them and us. We don’t impose projects on them. We often go back and forth but at the end, we achieve what is mutually accepted.
“When you train one man or woman and that person is gainfully employed, the person also touches the lives of those who depend on him or her.
Giving further clarification on the proposed airstrip, Onyebueke said the project would be located at Eleme in Rivers State.
According to him, the airstrip would facilitate the movement of oil executives to Onne, adding that Intels was partnering the Lagos State Government to ensure that light planes could fly from the proposed Lekki airport to Onne and vice-versa.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry, Trade and investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah has pledged the commitment of the Federal Government to support industrial firms operating in the country.

Ogu kingdoms in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State have urged oil companies operating in the area to improve on the living condition of the residents.

They urged the companies to undertake infrastructural and human development programmes rather than carrying out projects that would not have direct impact on the people.

The community made the call while receiving a community development programme for the area.

The programme, which includes a medical outreach on the treatment of cancer and tuberculosis awareness campaign, was launched by Divine Health and Good Society Foundation and Universal Basic Development and sponsored by NNPC/MPN Joint Venture, ExxonMobil.

The company also as part of its social responsibility to the communities also donated a 16-seater bus to the youths of Ogu.

A representative of the Community Development Committee, Ogu Town, Engr. Omieibi Arnold Davids, said it was necessary for the companies operating in the area to be more committed to its social responsibilities to their host communities.

The CDC chairman, who lamented the poor state of infrastructure in the place, said infrastructural and manpower development were key and the most needed in the area, calling on the companies to be active in that regards.

He said, “The communities of Ogu/Bolo, which play host to some companies in the state need infrastructural and manpower development. Infrastructure and human development mean so much to us. We call on the companies to create projects that every person in Ogu/Bolo will see and feel.”

Similarly, the Chief Whip of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Evans Bipi, who spoke through one of the leaders in the area, Mr. Godson Tende, urged the oil companies in the area to live up to their responsibility.

Bipi lauded ExxonMobil and its joint venture partners for the health programmes and the bus donated, promising that the communities would continue to maintain a good working relationship with the company for the sake of development.

Earlier in his address, the General Manager, Public and Government Affairs, Mobile Producing Nigeria, Mr. Paul Arinze, said the company would do more in the area of development.

Arinze, who spoke through his representative at the handover ceremony, Mr. Yemi Fakayejo, said it was necessary for companies to reinvest in the community in the interest of development.

He said the company was happy to bring awareness and testing for the two leading causes of death in the world; cancer and tuberculosis.

“Nigeria ranks Number four in the world for all reported cases of death caused by breast cancer and eleven for prostate cancer.

“For TB, Nigeria ranks 38 out of 172 countries of the world. Both diseases continue to take a toll on the human race, more particularly in developing nations like Nigeria.

“This is why we have chosen to bring this awareness and medication for other ailments in other to eradicate diseases in our communities,” Arinze said.

Omieibi Arnold Davids was surprisingly conferred with an Award of honour for his objective and visionary leadership style after series of investigations and fact finding mission to Ogu by PRESS TV INTERNATIONAL in partnership with AIT, Aljazeera, CNN, and others across the country.
The International media team commended the CDC Chairman for his immense contributions to the development of the Community and how this can be achieved continually as it's one of the fastest growing in Rivers State.

LATENESS TO CHURCH by Bright Owuamalam.

Ever since I was born, I have not seen anyone arrived late deliberately to the airport when the person is travelling. In fact, when the plane is taking off at 11:00pm, the person will be at the airport by 7:00pm, wow! That's how much people value travelling overseas.
But on a Sunday morning when Church has long begun that's when you see men and women with 'swag' gliding like pregnant serpents to Church, they know they are late, but because they have a new armani suit on and the latest michael kors bag, they want everyone to see it. Church starts at 7:00 or 8:00am, but people will come at 10:00am, why? They think Sunday School, praise and worship is for the uncivilized. Just take the test to call them on Monday at 7:30am, you'll realise they are already on their way to work and some will be there already.
Know this today, anytime you go to Church one minute late, you have NOT attended Church at all. There is a register of God, where angels record the name of those who come on time, and you'll be surprised that in Heaven they will tell you, you never attended Church. If Christ is saying 'where two or three are gathered, I'm in their midst', you think He comes late?
The time you give is the time He keeps.
What does it mean to arrive late to Church
1. Disrespect to Christ
2. Betrayal of Christ
3. Disregard to the Church and the Pastor
4. Interruption of an eternal Program
Now consider all these, and tell me they have not sin.
Remember, Eternity's Flight is not a flight taking you to overseas, it's a flight taking you to Heaven.

CTC Chairman Tasks Members On Service.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Titus Wakama, has enjoined the caretaker committee members of the council to see their appointments as a call to duty and not to enrich themselves.
Wakama who made the call while swearing-in the members at the council in Ogu said they should regard themselves lucky for the appointment, hence hands should be on deck to move the local government forward.
The new Caretaker Committee boss of Ogu/Bolo LGA stressed that he alone cannot run the council, but with their collective ideas, support and co-operation, he would make a difference and charged them to maintain their peaceful disposition.
While sacking all former political appointees and committees of the council, he assured the workers of regular payment of salaries and allowances as far as they reciprocate by coming to work regularly.      The Ogu/Bolo CTC boss announced the appointment of Mr. Steve Ibasimama Davids as the Secretary to the council and Comrade Precious Sydney Wakama as Chief of Staff.
He also assigned portfolios to the members of the Caretaker Committee which include .Mrs. Charity Ibiateli Cookey, Women Affairs, Gloria Ikalama, Agric; Longinus Gad, Culture Tourism and Special Duties; Hon. Mike Omubo, Works and Transport Hon. Lamidi Tende, Education and Hon. Iweriso Iruapu, Iweriso-Health.     .
Responding on behalf of the CTC members, Hon. Mike Omubo thanked the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike and the party for finding them worthy to serve the people and assured the chairman of their unalloyed support and cooperation.
In their separate speeches, the PDP Chairman of Ogu/Bolo LGA, Hon. Arnold Davids and the Chief Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, who was represented by a stalwart of the party, Alabo Rev. Francis Ebenezer Onye urged the CTC members to co-operate with their chairman to take the LGA to another level by putting in their best. They enjoined the chairman to use his position    to restore peace between Wakama and Kporghor communities.
In her vote of thanks, the Head, Local Government Administration, Comrade (Mrs) Gladys Nweye thanked Governor Nyesom Wike and others for taking the development of the LGA as their priority.
