Firm, LGA To Counsel Youth On Ship Repairs.

The management of Stars Marine and Engineering Ltd, says it will partner with Ogu/Bolo Local Government Council to give career counselling on maritime related issues to youths in the area.
The Managing, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Chief Greg Ogbeifun, made this known when the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the local government, Isaac Ibiberebupakabo, paid him a courtesy call in his office at Onne/Ikpokiri Wharf, Rivers State.
Ogbeifun, who is also the President of Ship Owners Association of Nigeria said the catch-them-young counselling will include ship building, marine welding, ship repairs among others, adding that the exercise would help them focus their destiny on maritime related activities.
He noted that with the counselling, some youths could be captains of ships rather than being deckans, stressing that after the pep-talk, the participants would be taken on excursion to the company to see things for themselves.
The Chief Executive Officer also noted that the counselling would expose the youths to develop interest and attend Nigerian Maritime Academy, Oron, Akwa Ibom State to train as maritime professionals and called on the local government to encourage such career.
Ogbeifun related that he is excited to work with the local government in order to create relationship and rapport and thanked the chairman for the visit.
Earlier, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Isaac  Ibiberebupakabo said they were in company’s office to rub minds and see how they can assist each other for a good working relationship.
Ibiberebukakabo appealed to the management of the company to make its impact felt in the local government as one of their host communities, and as the chief security officer of the local government assured of safe environment  for business and cordial working relationship, thanking him for the warm reception.
