 RIVERS STATE'S PATH TO NORMALCY: TOMPOLO'S call for Unity and the Question of National Standard.

I'm uncertain about our country's standards, especially with recent reports of a Senate committee chairman being an ex-convict.

Historical figures like Tompolo, Isaac Boro, and Odumegwu Ojukwu fought for their people's interests, just like Columbus liberated Americans from British rule. Today, leaders like Volodymyr Zelensky are fighting for their people's rights.

The Rivers State we cherish and proudly claim came from the sweat of Isaac Boro and others. Tompolo, along with others, brought about positive changes through their agitations against injustice. Their efforts led to the establishment of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Presidential Amnesty Program, which has produced world-class professionals in various fields.

The Buhari government complemented the efforts of the Yar'Adua/Jonathan administration with the 3% profit sharing by oil companies to their host communities. This isn't a contribution of politicians, but rather a result of Tompolo and others' activism. Buhari also awarded Tompolo's Tantita pipeline security project and licensed Asari's company for supporting security services.

These efforts have resulted in thousands of jobs for youths and brought national progress and peace. NNPC Ltd's declaration of 1.8m daily production and targeting 2.5m is a testament to these efforts. Governors from various regions would attest to the benefits of private security services.

Tompolo has also contributed to education with the establishment of a maritime university in Delta State by the federal government courtesy of his donation of his maritime training institute which is now providing training and jobs for thousands.

Tompolo's assurance of restoring democratic governance in Rivers State is a significant development, especially given the state's complex history of political instability. This move should be commended by all well-wishers of Rivers State's progress and prosperity.

I don't know any case of Tompolo being involved in criminalities like drugs, identity theft, certificate forgery, or embezzlement of state funds.

Given his achievements and contributions to the general benefit of the people, I believe Tompolo should be studied and appreciated for his successful agitations, rather than villainized.

Today, we sing the praises of failed leadership that exploits state resources to enforce perpetual praise singing and glorification for survival. Those who don't comply are labeled disloyal. These leaders often come from humble backgrounds but are clothed in the tattered garb of government officials

I really don't see any politician of note in character or standard in today's Nigeria better than Tompolo.
