"WE’LL PREVAIL EVENTUALLY – GOV. FUBARA REASSURES SUPPORTERS, CELEBRATES BONNY MONARCH AT 60"
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged his supporters to stay firm in their convictions, declaring that victory is certain because “we are standing on a solid rock.” He made this assurance during a goodwill message at a thanksgiving service on June 11, 2025, celebrating the 60th birthday of the Amanyanabo of Grand Bonny Kingdom, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Perekule XI.
The governor, who began his speech with the hymn “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand,” emphasized his commitment to doing what is right, even when it offends others. Drawing parallels between his journey and that of the Bonny Monarch, he highlighted the King’s resilience through trials, attributing survival to divine support.
He commended the King’s leadership philosophy centered on service rather than control, and encouraged him to remain steadfast in his convictions, regardless of public opinion. Fubara reminded the audience that true leadership is judged by lasting impact, not duration in power.
To his followers, he said: “Sometimes you lose to win. I don’t see anything as a loss. When you’re grounded in purpose, victory is inevitable.”
In his remarks, King Edward reflected on his reign and life, stating that every season has been a lesson. He dedicated the celebration to the people of Grand Bonny Kingdom, emphasizing shared heritage, unity, and progress. He reaffirmed his commitment to peace and service, thanking both his people and external supporters.
Bishop Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, in his sermon from Psalm 105:1-15, stressed the importance of gratitude, noting the King's 29 years on the throne have been marked by peace and progress—reasons enough for celebration.
